A to Z Law “Adopts” a Family to help for the Holidays

December 23, 2014

Every holiday season for the past several years, A to Z Law has “adopted” a family at the RAIN Transitional Living Center in Camarillo to spread some good cheer. RAIN helps the firm identify a family to adopt, and each family member prepares a “wish” list of items they would like as Christmas or holiday gifts.

The staff and attorneys at A to Z Law all donate money toward the effort as a way to give back to the community. Then the firm’s staff takes the donated funds and goes shopping in December, before Christmas. The family’s goodies are delivered to them at RAIN.

A to Z staffers Chris Miyasaki and Monica Garcia did the shopping this year and they purchased the “wish list” gifts for a family of six – two adults and four kids. Chris and Monica had fun “playing Santa,” and they said the experience humbles them.

“The thing that really gets us is sometimes the families ask for bedding, blankets, jackets and other necessities that we don’t always think of as gifts. It really brings home to everyone at the firm how fortunate we are to have all the basics and not have to think of these things as a ‘wish’ for Christmas. It’s a nice reminder,” Monica said.
