Alexander (Alec) C. Yarbrough

Business Law – Tax and Estate Planning Law

For esteemed transactional attorney Alec Yarbrough, joining A to Z Law has been a full-circle homecoming. After years practicing law in Los Angeles and Orange counties, the Thousand Oaks native was happy to join the firm and return to Ventura County, where he’s settled in Thousand Oaks with his wife and their young son.

Alec brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience in business law, including entity formation, administration and conversion, buy-sell agreements, assignments and redemption agreements as well as tax and estate planning law. He regularly counsels business clients on a range of issues, including mergers, acquisitions and compliance matters. Alec also assists clients across the wealth spectrum with their estate planning needs, and he has experience with international tax and wealth planning.

His prior work at nationally recognized law firms in Century City and Costa Mesa gives him valuable insights and experience. In addition to feeling right at home in Ventura County, Alec is grateful to be working for a distinguished full-service firm, with lawyers in diverse fields who have long-established ties to the region.

A graduate of UC Santa Barbara, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science, Alec earned his Juris Doctor and his Master of Laws in estate planning from the University of Miami School of Law – and then headed back west to begin his legal career.

Back in Ventura County for good, Alec and his wife, Danielle, who is also a Ventura County native, are excited to raise their son Hudson where they grew up.

It’s here that Alec first nurtured his life in service, as a devoted Boy Scout who eventually earned the rank of Eagle. He’s remained connected to the Ventura County Council of the Boy Scouts of America and to the National Eagle Scout Association. It’s also here that Alec became aware, during high school, that he excelled at speech, debate and mock trial. Even back then, he knew that he’d eventually be an attorney. While attending UCSB, Alec took a job at a small tax and wealth-planning law firm in town, and never looked back.

Among his other affiliations, Alec is a member of both the State Bar of California, Trusts & Estates and Taxation section; and the American Bar Association.

Away from work, Alec spends most of his time with Danielle, trying to keep up with Hudson. He also enjoys hiking, salt-water fishing and pretty much all outdoor sports.
