Maria Capritto was a Certified Public Accountant for 13 years before becoming an attorney whose primary area of focus involves estate planning, including preparation of revocable trusts, special needs trusts, wills and powers of attorney. Her practice also includes trust administration, probate, conservatorship, tax, and Medi-Cal planning. Her analytical skills and business background provide her with a detailed understanding of strategic use of trusts and estates, and how they function.
Through her own experience caring for her ailing parents’ financial and health-related matters, Maria has a deep understanding and personal connection with families struggling with the healthcare and financial needs of loved ones who are elderly or have special needs.
Her work in tax law includes Offers in Compromise with taxing authorities and arranging installment agreements with taxing authorities for payment of tax liabilities.
A 1983 graduate of California State University, Northridge, Maria received a master’s degree in taxation from Golden Gate University in 1991. In 1997, she received her law degree from Ventura College of Law.
A member of the State Bar of California, the Ventura Bar Association, California Society of Certified Public Accountants and American Society of Public Accountants, Maria is also active in her community. She is past president of the Boys & Girls Club of Ventura, former chairperson of Ventura Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Ventura Advisory Committee and currently serves as the firm representative for the Ventura Chamber of Commerce.
Maria is the past president of Elderpride, Inc., and former board member of Rotary Club of Ventura East. She currently serves on Ventura County Bar Association’s board of directors.
A Ventura County native, Maria lives in Ventura with her husband, also an attorney, and their daughter. She enjoys reading and exercising.
