Ventura County attorney Dennis LaRochelle was the keynote speaker at Pasadena Magazine’s “2014 Top Attorneys Celebration,” held Thursday, Nov. 20, at the Noor ballroom in Pasadena.
LaRochelle, the newly installed president of the California chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates, wowed the audience of more than 200 guests with an interesting speech detailing the historical importance of two attorneys in early American history – Francis Scott Key, who wrote the National Anthem during the War of 1812, and James Otis, the first attorney to challenge the British king’s legal authority regarding unreasonable searches and seizures during Revolutionary times.
“I am not boasting when I say that lawyers have played a central part in maintaining our ordered society where the rule of law reigns supreme,” LaRochelle told the group. “James Otis and Francis Scott Key are just two of the many thousands of lawyers that make me proud of my profession.”
Pasadena Magazine is a bi-monthly magazine that reports on happenings around Southern California. Each year the magazine hosts hundreds of people to honor attorneys from the San Gabriel Valley selected by their peers. The magazine invited LaRochelle as the guest speaker.
